FAQs

When should I replace my toothbrush?

At Texas Dental Center we recommend our patients replace their toothbrush every 3 months. If you notice your brush is worn or damaged, replace it immediately. Those that have recently been sick should also replace their brush immediately.

Should I buy an electric or manual toothbrush?

Research has shown that both manual and electronic toothbrushes are equally effective when used properly. For those with mobility issues such as the elderly, an electric toothbrush may make at home dental care easier and more effective.

How often should I brush?

At Texas Dental Center we prefer that our patients brush their teeth after each meal. However, twice a day should be enough to achieve and maintain optimal oral care. For those that can’t brush after each meal, we do recommend rinsing thoroughly with water.

How often should I floss?

At Texas Dental Center we recommend that our patients floss their teeth at least once each day.

How often should I see the dentist?

At Texas Dental Center we recommend that most of our patients schedule professional dental visits at least twice a year. For those with chronic decay, infections or diseases we may recommend more frequent visits to manage your condition properly.

What can I do if I have dental anxiety?

At Texas Dental Center we are proud to offer a variety of sedation dentistry options for our patients that experience dental anxiety. Depending on your anxiety level and preferences, your dentist can help you decide which sedation dentistry option is right for you.
